We have seen recovered COVID-19 patients becoming infected again. While this could be explained by a high false-positive rate with the testing, the alternative could be previously mentioned Antibody Dependent Enhancement. SARS-CoV shares 75% characteristics of SARS-CoV-2, and the previous post went into detail on how SARS-CoV may present with the ability to bind to host immune cells and infect via Fc Receptors and conformational change. Could this explain why as many as 14% of patients have been reinfected? (Liuqian, Shulun, & Wei, 2020). If this is the case, that healthcare workers are at much higher risk than previously thought. Further studies are needed to prevent global catastrophe and PPE guidelines must be strictly adhered to. Stay strong and be safe! - Mason Peck MS
